About Sophia Rotger

Sophia Rotger is a student at Covington School and has three beloved pets: a golden retriever named Katie; Lucy, a terrier-mix, and a guinea pig named Sandy. In 2010, at 9-years-old, she heard a local news story on the radio about families who had to give their pets to shelters because they couldn't afford to feed them. Being an animal lover and a pet owner, Sophia became deeply interested in helping these families give their pets enough food as her own.

As quoted in the Birmingham-Bloomfield Eagle, Sophia put her passion into words when she said, "I looove animals, and I heard some people don't have enough money to feed their pets and they end up going in pounds and the pounds can't keep them for that much time... so me and my mom got the idea to maybe do something."
